In my neighborhood, Friday is trash day. It's our once-a-week opportunity to get rid of all the garbage that's collected in our house. Some of the trash is easy to find, like junk mail, empty cereal boxes and used paper plates. (y'all know I don't wash dishes). :-)
But some of it lies hiding under the couch and behind the bed -- places we don't think much about and don't often look. So until we do a deep clean, this kind of trash gets to hang around for far too long.
I've come to realize that our homes aren't the only place trash collects. It also collects in our heads and hearts.
Today is trash day. I'm deep cleaning my head and heart to get rid of what doesn't belong to make room for what will propel me forward.
Here are a few things I found lurking around that I'm putting in today's trash:
I DON'T BELONG. I AM NOT GOOD ENOUGH. I HAVE TO WORK TO BE LOVED.
Funny thing is I've thrown out this type of trash before. I guess that's why clearing out garbage is not a one-and-done kind of thing. It's a regular, ongoing part of a healthy life.
This is my trash. What's yours?
